Glenda Spackman is a grandmother of six who learned to ride a motorbike in her late 50’s. She has lived and worked in Russia, Turkey, Japan, Taiwan, Spain and New Zealand.
For many years however, Glenda’s life wasn’t what she’d dreamed of. That was because she lived according to the values and beliefs of others and lacked confidence to be true to herself. She wanted to make a meaningful difference in the world, but had no idea what she had to offer or where to start.
In her late-30’s Glenda stopped pretending her life was OK and started to question everything she’d been taught about herself and her place in the world. Since that time, Glenda has identified her values and discovered what is important to her. She has replaced the limiting beliefs she had with those that have enabled her to thrive and learned how to trust her emotions when she makes decisions. Glenda has learned how her fears are there to protect her and which fears should be listened to and which hinder her. Above all, Glenda knows that only she can create a successful life on her terms.
Glenda has recently published her first book Superhero Me: How to Feel Great about Yourself and Make the World a Better Place. Superheroes are people who create a fulfilling life based on what’s important to them and make a difference in the world. This practical book shows you how to uncover your values and teaches you how to overcome barriers that stop you from being a superhero.
Glenda is a career and life coach at Unique and Thriving. As part of the process of working out what she wanted to do with her life, she has had a range of careers including secretary, x-ray technician, university lecturer, Principal Policy Adviser to the New Zealand Government and English teacher. Glenda completed her PhD in management as a mature student a semester before her eldest daughter started her university studies.
Glenda cares deeply about other people and wants to help them short-circuit the process she went through to understand herself and create the life of her dreams.
To relax, Glenda loves pulling on her leathers and riding her Kawasaki Ninja 650 out into big open spaces where she can take photos. She also thrives on the challenge of travelling on a shoe-string budget and working in non-English speaking countries. Glenda loves spending time with her three daughters and six grandchildren. Above all, Glenda loves helping others overcome the barriers that prevent them from understanding how unique they are and from thriving in a world that needs their amazing contribution.
