Have you ever been working towards a goal only to run into a big fat obstacle that seemed insurmountable?
What do you do? Do you stamp your feet and give up? For much of my life, I’d feel angry and powerless when something came between me and a goal I wanted to achieve. I’d find myself focusing entirely on the obstacle in front of me and the bigger it grew in my mind, the more inadequate I’d feel. My confidence and self-esteem would plummet and more often than not, I’d give up on my dream and settle for something easier to achieve. The problem is that regularly settling for second best doesn’t create a fulfilling life.It leaves you feeling frustrated with yourself and life.
Over the past few years, I’ve learned to see barriers and obstacles differently. I now see them as opportunities to grow and learn, rather than as barriers that will derail my dreams. I believe that you only grow as a person by facing obstacles head on and learning from them. So what can obstacles teach you?
Obstacles show you:
So nowadays, after my initial meltdown when I hit an obstacle, I take a deep breath and say Thank You Universe for the things I’m going to learn.
How about you? What obstacles are you facing in your life today? I’d love to hear how you’re dealing with them and what you are learning from them.
My wish is that you will be able to see all obstacles in your life as opportunities to grow?
